Jordan Schneider
When I was growing up, I would spend weekends at my cousin’s house messing with her camcorder and making silly home movies together. Our videos were often inspired by movies and television shows we watched together and would sprout the seed for a growing passion in filmmaking.
In 2009, I started my sophomore year of high school taking a video production course as my elective and was introduced to the more technical aspects of writing, producing and editing videos. My junior year I proceeded to the advanced course and became a team member of our high school’s news channel; our broadcast included school announcements, stories, interviews, and skits. I worked in front of and behind the camera but found that I preferred to be behind the scenes and was most passionate with the filming and editing process.
Finally, my senior year I took our school’s final production course where I co-directed and produced a short film for the Tower of Youth Film festival in Sacramento, CA. Our film went on to win for best in Beauty & Surrealism (you can watch it here!). It was a very rewarding experience, and I am very proud of the work we did.
Today, filmmaking has become more of a hobby, and I have narrowed my focus on video editing in particular. I find the editing process very intriguing and genuinely enjoy combining individual elements, like footage, music, and graphics, to craft an evocative and meaningful story. I currently freelance and have edited promotional material and podcast episodes for the Costume Industry Coalition, a non-profit in NYC raising funds for employees of Broadway that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. I also work full-time in IT for my local K-12 school district; between fixing computers and spending hours in my editing software, I am excited when I can exercise the technical part of my mind!
Thank you for taking the time to view our work!
